Mercy International Centre hosts conference on investing in fulfilment of Laudato Si'

We were delighted to host a gathering of representatives from various religious congregations and missionary societies at Mercy International Centre in Dublin on Saturday 15 February.

The event was organised by Vita Impact and the focus of the meeting was to explore Laudato Si' in action and the ways in which we can meet the challenges of Laudato Si' through faith aligned investment for social and climate justice.

Speakers at the event included:

Sr Julie Walsh rsm, Western Province; Sarah Smith, Director of Mercy Partnership Fund; John O'Shaughnessy of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary; John Simon, manager impact investment fund; Fr Séamus O'Neill of St Patrick's Missionary Society; Hsuan Lo; Professor Gerry Boyle, member of the Climate Change Advisory Council of Ireland; and John Weakliam, CEO of Vita Impact.

CEO of Mercy International Association, Sr Patricia O'Donovan rsm was also in attendance and lit the climate justice candle on the day with Sr Margaret Tiernan rsm.

At the conclusion of the gathering a tree was plated to mark the occasion.

Laudato Si' is Pope Francis' Encyclical Letter on care for our common home which was published in 2015.
