Advent is a time of expectant delight!
Advent is the four-week season before Christmas during which we make preparations for the coming of Christ.
The word Advent itself comes from the Latin word adventus, which means “coming”. The season of Advent is a time of waiting, listening, transformation and hope.
Advent Through the Lens of Mercy
During the four weeks of Advent, we will be sharing a reflection series on the classic themes of Advent which are: Hope, Peace, Joy and Love.
The series is introduced by Sr. Patricia O'Donovan rsm, CEO of Mercy International Association.
The four reflections will be offered by:
- Sr. Margaret Daly rsm, Head of Heritage and Spirituality, who reflects on hope;
- Ms Cecilie Kern, MGA's Global Policy and Research Advocate, who reflects on peace;
- Ms Noreen Kavanagh, Volunteer at Mercy International Centre, who reflects on joy; and,
- Ms Gaby Kinsman, Young Mercy Links and Member of the MIA Board, who reflects on love.
As Advent is a time of waiting, we will be inviting you to wait patiently for our reflections as they will not go live until the week preceding each of the four Sundays of Advent.
They will be available here and on our social media pages.
We also have a selection of prayer resources for Advent available through our Opening Doors section of our website.
