New Webinar Series: From Sparks to Fire - Justice Advocacy Through the Lens of Mercy
)
What does it mean to turn our concern for justice into meaningful action? This is one of the many questions we will be reflecting on as part of Mercy International Association’s new Justice Webinar Series.
As we prepare to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the Founding of the first House of Mercy by Catherine McAuley in 1827, this webinar series invites us to consider what justice advocacy looks like today and how each of us can help turn a spark of concern into a fire for change.
Inspired by Mercy Global Action’s From Sparks to Fire: A Guide to Justice Advocacy for the Global Mercy Community, this first webinar will explore how the Mercy tradition of compassion, solidarity and respect for human dignity can become a catalyst for change. The guide brings together years of learning and experience from grassroots communities and advocacy at the United Nations, offering practical tools and approaches for people seeking to engage in justice advocacy.
Cecilie Kern, Global Policy Officer with Mercy Global Action will host our first webinar and introduce the Mercy Justice Advocacy Approach, exploring how we can move from recognising injustice to understanding its root causes, amplifying the voices and experiences of those most affected, and identifying opportunities for action and systemic change.
Whether you are new to justice advocacy or already involved in bringing about change in your community, this webinar offers an opportunity to learn, reflect and be inspired to act.
Join us on 21st October and discover how a spark can become a fire.
Cecilie’s current role is particularly relevant to this conversation: she brings the experiences of Mercy communities into global policy spaces, especially the United Nations, with a particular focus on the degradation of Earth and the displacement of persons.
