The Keys Have Been Returned: Baggot Street Reopens Its Doors
)
After nine months of extensive remedial works, the keys to Baggot Street have finally been returned to us.
Much of the work carried out over the past months has been unseen by visitors, focusing primarily on essential fire remediation and safety upgrades throughout the building. While the freshly painted walls, ceilings and floors may be the most visible signs of change, behind them lies a significant investment in preserving and protecting this special place for future generations.
As we prepare to reopen, not all spaces are exactly as they once were. Some rooms have been thoughtfully reinstated, including Catherine's Office and the Parlour, while a new Community Room will offer visitors a comfortable place to gather and enjoy a cup of tea. Other areas are still being dressed and prepared, and some spaces are not yet fully ready.
One notable change is that we will no longer be providing accommodation on the second floor. Instead, our focus will be on welcoming visitors, pilgrims and programme participants into a safe, accessible and hospitable environment.

Throughout the summer, we will offer daily house tours and a range of programmes, giving visitors an opportunity to experience Baggot Street once again. We would love to share our vision for the house as it enters this new chapter, before reopening more fully to the wider Mercy world.
We ask for your patience as we continue to settle back in, re-dress rooms and complete the final touches. The house may look a little different in places, but its spirit of welcome remains unchanged. The significant work that has taken place may now be largely invisible to the eye, hidden behind newly painted walls, ceilings and floors, but it ensures that this sacred place can continue to welcome pilgrims and visitors safely for years to come.
We look forward to opening our doors and welcoming you back to Baggot Street.
