Distinct Voice: Incarnate God in Cosmos and in Person of Jesus
Mary Pendergast rsm (Americas): 'In Mercy Woods'
On June 25, 2018, The Sisters of Mercy conserved 229 acres of land in Cumberland, Rhode Island, USA. It was a communal decision made long ago that took more than 20 years to become reality! This land had been our home for over one hundred years! Most of that time, we were silent and inside, but our kin on the outside let us glimpse them occasionally; even more rarely and more recently we actually took photos of our encounters. Chance meetings of our neighbors!
This month we celebrate Incarnate God in Cosmos and in the person of Jesus. We trust that you will meditate on God incarnating as a defenseless human during this Advent and Christmas Season.
But today,
We offer you pictures of the “other than human” who have lived for generations on this land, and now will be undisturbed for generations to come! May you open ever more deeply to Incarnate God in Cosmos and indeed to Incarnate God’s Presence in all beings! May Mercy flow to you from our brothers and sisters in the kindom! And may peace prevail on Earth.
